Friday the 13th is going to be a spooky good time at this years toy bash. Here is a list of other activities we have coming up before this years bash.
Oct. 28th we will be holding our first Open Elves Volunteer meeting at 7pm. If you are interested in getting involved, please come and hear what we do and how you can be apart. The meeting will be held at the Marine Barracks located just off Broadway at 2148 Kingsway in Cape Girardeau, MO.
November 15th will be our t-shirt reveal and band release party. Come out to Broadway Biergarten at 7pm to see and purchase your 2019 toy bash t-shirt. We will also be releasing what bands are playing and where they will be playing.
The week of November 11th we will be getting the toy collection boxes out to our sponsors. We encourage everyone to patronize all our sponsors and if you can’t make it to an event, please drop off toys at any one of the sponsors.
November 19th is the first of our three food nights. Rosati’s pizza is donating 10% of all sales that day to the toy bash. Go and enjoy some great pizza and give back. Rosati’s is located at 2136 William st. in Cape Girardeau.
November 21st is our next food day. I know it’s only a couple days after, but we are trying to help with your food planning for the week. This time you can enjoy some tasty wings at Wings Etc. You can go to either the Jackson or Cape location and 10% of your food and soft drink total will be donated to the toy bash. You do have to show the flyer.
November 25th will be our 2nd Open Elves meeting at 7pm. If you can’t make it to the first one in October, this is the one for you.
December 3rd is our final food day. Gordonville Grill is donating 10% of sales that day. Get you some Gouda and Cheddar Potato Cakes out at 829 State Hwy. Z.
December 7th is the Teddy Bear Toss. Come out to the SEMO vs SIU women’s basketball game at the Show-me Center at 6:30. Bring a stuffed animal and at half time try to toss it into the box while cheering on the Lady Redhawks.
December 13th is the Happy Slapowitz Toy Bash.
Many of our Toy Bash friends bring their donations the night of, whether in cash or toy form, and donate that night. Did you know that we have drop boxes for donations up all around Southeast Missouri for weeks prior to the actual event?
We are blessed with a load of fantastic sponsors, and each of these sponsors has a donation drop box at their location. They’re ready to take those toys and make some dreams come true!
What this boils down to is this: If you can’t make it to the actual Toy Bash event, you can MOST DEFINITELY donate to the cause before that happens. In fact, you can donate right here on our website!
At the end of the day, our goal is to make as many childhood dreams come true as we can. If it’s the middle of July and you want to make a donation, go for it! We’ll make sure it gets where it needs to go right here in our local community.
The title says it all: Your Donations Matter. They really do, and we can’t say thank you enough for being a part of Happy’s mission!
Barbecue, bands, loads of social time… all of this makes the Toy Bash a magical night. But the best part is the day after, when we get to shop for great toys for the kids!
You can imagine that our volunteers are a bit… groggy the morning after Toy Bash. They worked so hard the night before, taking donations, checking IDs, cooking and delivering the food and so much more. In fact, we know they’d love nothing more than to sleep in, dreaming of sugar plums and all that.
Nope; these sleepy heads are up bright and early with a smile on their faces, as they know it’s SHOPPING DAY! We meet at Toys R Us in Cape Girardeau, grab an army of shopping carts and cut loose on the most fun shopping spree we could imagine.
Loads (like, literally; LOADS) of toys are bought and placed in our trucks for delivery later. We’ve even made a fun habit out of keeping the receipt in one piece for a cool Christmas-y feeling. 🙂
Want to be a part of this fun? Just let us know on our Volunteer page and we’ll be in touch. Happy would LOVE to have you join us!
